May 3, 2008 Ride

WHAT: Ride through Marin County (25-mile option is a mostly flat out and back to Fairfax from San Francisco; 50-mile option continues past Fairfax and is an out and back to Lagunitas – includes some hills). Lunch afterwards for those who are interested. Both midpoints are at cafes.

DATE: Saturday, May 3, 2008

TIME: Meeting at 8:45 am, leaving at 9:00 am.

WHERE: Meet in front of the gift shop at the Golden Gate Bridge. Parking is available on the East side of the bridge.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Traveling north from San Francisco: Take a right at the last San Francisco exit off Highway 101 just before the Toll Plaza. The sign reads "Golden Gate National Recreation Area View Area". Proceed to the stop sign and turn left into the southeast parking lot.

Traveling south from Marin County: Follow U.S. Highway 101 south across the Golden Gate Bridge. Have exact change ready to pay the $5 toll, collected southbound only. Proceed through the far right toll lane #1, and make an immediate right exiting U.S. Highway 101 just past the Toll Plaza. Make another immediate right onto the roadway passing underneath the Toll Plaza and directly into the southeast parking lot.

From East Bay: Take 80 West and go over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. Get onto 101 North. Take a right at the last San Francisco exit off Highway 101 just before the Toll Plaza. The sign reads "Golden Gate National Recreation Area View Area". Proceed to the stop sign and turn left into the southeast parking lot.

FOR WHOM: For women only; no men this ride -- sorry.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Bring plenty of water and energy bars. Rain doesn't cancel. This ride is for beginners and intermediate level riders.

Valley Spokesmen No-Drop Ride
The Valleyspokesmen women's team members sponsor a no drop ride the 3rd saturday of each month (and have for over 15 years). We ride 42 - 48 miles and practice skills and coaching as we go along. Speed will vary depending on who is on the ride. This ride is for women only and for Road bikes only - no mountain bikes or recumbents - as we are practicing pace lines, sprints, etc. in a nice controlled ride. Check out www.vsrt.net.

Palo Alto Bicycle Women's Team Group Ride
Want to ride with all women and learn more about cycling, or just have friends to ride with? Come out to the Palo Alto Bicycle's Women's team group ride. It is the 2nd Monday of every month. The ride meets at 6:00 pm and rolls out by 6:15 from Peet's Coffee in Palo Alto. The ride is casual and is usually 1-1.5 hours. Routes are determined that night. Santa Rosa Cyclery No-Drop Ride
Santa Rosa Cyclery is hosting a no-drop, group road ride on Monday evenings at 6:30pm. They ride for 1.5-2 hours at 13-17 mph.
